Open Studio continued

I got so involved with looking into the artists on page one I didn't realize that our journey would go on to another theme. The next project is "The Night Project" and we will be looking at the artists Daniel Richter and James Turrell. The parameters are the examination of our reactions and observations of night. Hmmm this will be interesting. I have been known to scare myself when I'm alone at night.

The next framework is our choice from Surveillance, Voyeurism and Social Media. We will be looking at the artist, Nan Goldin, photographer.

She said of her work:
My work originally came from the snapshot aesthetic…. Snapshots are taken out of love and to remember people, places, and shared times. They're about creating a history by recording a history.
The last project will be our choice.

I will be mulling over all of this and then some before the first class next week. It's going to be an interesting journey.

P.S.  As I was galavanting across the internet I came across a virtual tour of Satchi gallery's new building in London and was curious of an institution that sold art for millions of dollars. Here's the link

  1. Hi Elizabeth,
I hope you have some very successful shows also. You just need to find a community art group who are involved in shows, and away you go! Thanks for the info on the share buttons. I did try hitting transparent, but it didn't seem to work. I'll go back and try again. Cheers!

  3. Good luck with your artistic journey. A good question for anyone on this painful road is "Where is the Rubicon I cross from being a non-artist to artist? Will I recognise it? Will it be invisible to me and only visible to others? Can it be seen only looking back and from a distance?"

  4. Thank you Claire. I'm making it a goal to find a group in or near my community. In the meantime maybe some of my classmates would be interested in forming a group. I'll keep you posted.

  6. Highton-Ridley, Thanks for visiting and following my journey. You have voiced the questions I silently ask myself. I don't know the answer but I keep going anyway.

  7. looks like a great course, a real adventure. I've been to the Saatchi Gallery and it is a fabulous contemporary art-space. They also run a website for student art from round the world, offering a free account with them to show your art to world http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/stuart/.
